The United Nations Office in Nairobi is one of the four major UN office sites where several different UN agencies have a joint presence. It was established in 1996. The complex of buildings is located next to the Karura Forest and across the street (United Nations Avenue) from the US Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. AfroMun has been allowed the chance to host the conference at the united nation office, which we are very much grateful for. The location is ideal for delegates to develop their debating capacities in a context that allows them be anchored to a diplomatic environment. As AfroMUN reaches more and more people, our voices become more and more apparent and our ideas are starting to become actual solutions. Being able to witness the transition from an idea to a solution in such an iconic building is the most enriching experience a delegate could have
Map and Transportation
Transport to and from the airport will be provided. There will be 2 buses put in place. Schedule of the bus will be as follows. This is when leaving the airport
- First bus leaving the airport at 12pm
- Second bus leaving at 1630pm
There will be ushers at the airport just to receive the delegates and also take care of you.
NB: if you get to the airport and do not feel like waiting for the bus, you are allowed to get to the hotel by taxi which is 3000 Kenya shillings (30 USD) from the airport to gigiri express hotel in United Nations Avenue. For international delegates the date will be 05 March 2017
Transport for local delegates will also be provided. The pick-up point is JIVANGII, moi avenue Nairobi CBD. There will be 3 buses. Schedule:
- First 2 buses leave at 0730.
- The last bus leaves at 0745.
No other bus will then be available from 0745 hence one will have to make their own transport arrangements to the UN.
From gigiri express hotel, the distance to the United Nations office is 2,650 feet which will be about a 4 minute walk.
The 42 000(420USD) kenya shillings you will pay is inclusive of the accommodation for the whole week and transportation.
